Arena Holdings is one of Africa’s largest English-language news publishers in print (titles include Sunday Times, Business Day, Financial Mail, The Herald, Sowetan and Daily Dispatch) and online (titles include TimesLIVE, SowetanLIVE, BusinessLIVE, DispatchLIVE, HeraldLIVE amongst others).

The company broadcasts on DStv (via Business Day TV, Ignition and The Home Channel) and owns a number of B2B and B2C magazines as well as an events division, amongst others.

Arena Holdings believes that education is integral to the development of all individuals, giving them the benefit of a full and better life. It contributes to a better society with people who are aware of their rights and duties.

Higher education imparts in-depth knowledge and understanding, to advance students into new frontiers of knowledge, providing opportunities for lifelong learning, allowing people to upgrade their knowledge and skills from time to time, based on societal needs.

The significance of education is that it gives South Africans income security that enables them to provide for their families and improve their circumstances for the better.

The stated mission of Arena Holdings is ‘to enrich peoples’ lives with news and entertainment that informs, educates and uplifts’.

The organisation seeks to utilise its resources in the formal and informal education arena, in an effort to build a stronger, better educated nation.

In 2022, Arena Holdings gave away bursaries worth over R2 million to lucky young South Africans.

Arena Holdings invites applications for the Arena Holdings Bursary Programme 2023 for South Africans.

How to Apply

Where relevant, you’ll have to upload your September 2022 Preliminary Matric Results.

You will also have to upload your testimonial. The testimonial must be from a School , Registered Community Organisation or Church that you attend.

Please note the testimonial must have the following information:

  1. Name of person who wrote the testimonial
  2. Position of the person in the school or institution
  3. Email Address
  4. Contact number of the person who has prepared the testimonial

Bursary Application Form

Winners will be informed if they have won a bursary by 23 January 2023

Closing Date for the full bursary application is 13 January 2023

Winners will be notified by 5 February 2023.

The bursary covers the duration of the degree / diploma / certificate applied for

The decision is final and at the discretion of Arena Holdings and the Arena Academy and not open to interpretation.
